Barb Justason, CMRP
Barb Justason is the principal researcher at Justason Market Intelligence Inc. and owner of Vancouver Focus®. Barb is a leading market research professional and advisor to corporations and governments. During her 20-plus-year career, she has provided research and consulting services to almost every sector of the economy: energy producers, natural resource companies, retailers, developers, food and beverage manufacturers, tourism and transportation operators, First Nations communities, crown corporations, municipalities and the provincial government. Her research interests include civic affairs and transportation safety. Barb holds memberships with the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA), and the American Association of Public Opinion Researchers (AAPOR). Barb received the MRIA’s Certified Marketing Research Professional (CMRP) designation in 2004.
Director of Operations
Douglas Amundaray is the Director of Operations at Vancouver Focus®. Douglas has developed his career as a communication and marketing specialist for different government, multinational and private organizations in Venezuela, Canada and China. He obtained his Bachelor of Mass Communications (BMC) from Universidad Santa Maria in the city of Caracas. In 2012, Douglas moved to Vancouver where he completed a Diploma in International Trade from the Forum of International Trade Training (FITT). Douglas also holds a Double Master of Arts in Global Communications (MA) from Simon Fraser University and Communication University of China (CUC). Some of his work focused on how culture, government policy frameworks and technology shape media industries and LGTBQ individuals, and the implications of this for the formation of public spheres. His research interests also lie in the area of global studies, human rights, media systems, popular culture and social justice.
Geoff Bird, BBA
Geoff Bird directs full service qualitative and quantitative custom research assignments at Justason Marketing Intelligence and Vancouver Focus®. During his decade with the firm, Geoff has progressed from a project coordination role to directing the firm’s primary research activities. He has extensive experience in research design, data analysis, project management, and online survey research. Geoff, who has authored hundreds of client assignments, delivers clear and concise reports and accessible presentations. Geoff’s clients are in the municipal government, utility, energy, financial, forestry, manufacturing and automotive sectors. Geoff is also the designer and director of the firm’s ongoing panel building program, ensuring replacement and steady growth of the firm’s province-wide online panel and focus group recruiting capabilities. Geoff holds a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and a Marketing Management Diploma from Kwantlen University and is a member of the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA).
Moderator, Public and Corporate Affairs
An award-winning strategist, Michael is focused on the conversations that take place in the public realm, at the intersection of government and public, non-profit and corporate. He specializes in assisting organizations with their strategic planning for communicating and engaging. Michael has implemented reputation research on five continents. He is adept at providing the framework for insightful conversations, whether facilitating board level strategic planning, senior leadership team planning or public facing focus groups to explore range of opinion, gather information and test assumptions. Michael has won numerous awards for excellence in his field: Canadian Public Relations Society National Award of Excellence Electronic & Social Media; Hermes Platinum Award; Hermes Platinum Award 2010, IABC Award of Excellence for Government Relations; IABC Silver Leaf for Issues Management. Michael holds a Graduate Certificate in Public Relations from Royal Roads University (RRU) and is completing RRU’s Master of Arts, Communications.
Moderator, Public Policy, Marketing and Brand Development
Steve Bengtson works extensively with Justason Market Intelligence and Vancouver Focus® completing public policy focus group and depth interview research assignments. Steve specializes in strategic brand management research. Steve has extensive qualitative research experience particularly using focus groups, ethnographic research and one-on-one executive interviews. Steven conducts 100+ focus groups per year for a wide variety of clients. Steve’s post-graduate education includes a certificate in social marketing from York University and UBC’s Internet Marketing Program.
